Requirements & Schedule
What is the time commitment during Recruitment like?
- Recruitment is a 3-week process. Starting from September 11th to September 27th.
What is the time commitment like after Recruitment?
- On average, new members spend 4-5 hours* per week on APO events and activities. Our general body meetings happen every Monday (7:45pm - 8:30pm) and new member meetings also occur every Monday (starts at 9pm). Other events are scattered throughout the week.
What are the requirements for recruits?
- 1 Info Session
- 1 Service Event*
- 1 Philanthropy Event*
- 1 DEI Workshop
- 1 Fellowship Event
- 1 additional Service + Philanthropy Event*
- Written Application
You need to attend 3 TOTAL events related to service and philanthropy. This can be fulfilled by attending 2 service events and 1 philanthropy event OR 2 philanthropy events and 1 service event. HOWEVER, you must do at least 1 of each.
HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE OF EACH!
What’s the difference between Round 1 and Round 2?
- Round 1 goes from September 11th to September 21st. These 2 weeks are what we call an “open” Recruitment – recruits may join in and attend events at any point within this time frame. The written application results are released on September 21st marking the end of Round 1.
- Round 2 goes from September 22nd to September 27th. This week is invite-only (for those that made the Round 1 cuts) and will feature some service/fellowship/phil events as well as Mocktails and Interviews.
- Final Results are scheduled to be released on September 27th.
Are there any mandatory events I need to attend if I do make it past Recruitment?
- GBMs: Every Monday (7:45pm - 8:30/9pm)
- New Member Meetings: Every Monday (9pm)
- Welcoming Ceremony: September 29th (11am-1pm)
- Westwood Invasion: September 29th (1pm-5pm)
- Chapter Retreat: TBA at GBM
- DTA: TBA at GBM
- BLR: TBA at GBM
- These are typically all mandatory events, especially for potential new members. In the EXTREME event that you cannot attend, please let us know! :)
Are all events in person or online?
- As of now, all events are in person UNLESS stated next to the event on the Notion.
How do I know whether an event has changed since I last checked the notion?
- Events will contain [UPDATED] if it’s new, the location has changed, or the time has changed. The notion page has the most updated events.
Are service events capped?
- Yes, the cap # should be listed next to the respective event! In order to attend, sign up through the form linked beside the specific event. We will try to prioritize those who have not attended a service event yet, but nonetheless, sign up just in case!
- ‼️Note → By signing up you are NOT guaranteed to be able to attend this Service Event. You will be notified ASAP if you are one of the first recruits to sign up.
What is the waitlist for Service Events?
- We want everyone at service events to be able to do meaningfully contribute. Thus, there is an attendance cap. When a Service Event has already reached maximum signup capacity, further sign-ups will put you on the waitlist. This means that if, for any reason, a recruit who was signed up earlier and supposed to attend is suddenly unable to, those on the waitlist will be notified (via email) and given an opportunity to attend.
- You should be notified 24 hours before the event’s start time whether or not you are able to attend or on the waitlist.
